Website Hosting

WHY DO YOU NEED A HOSTING SERVICE?

Hosting is a place to store your (website) files on a computer server so that people who have internet connection can access your files (website)

The Hosting Server is not at your home or business. This allows your website files to be accessible by people all over the world.

Hosting Services offer enough computer space to hold all of your website files, is available 24-7 and has enough speed (bandwidth) so people don’t have to wait for your website to load. If you have a lot of website traffic, you need more bandwidth.

Hosting services also offer security for your files so your files do not get hacked and keeps the ‘bad guys’ out.

Website Hosting Services are not free.

The more space you need for your files, photos and videos and the more that people access your website, and the faster you need your files to load, the more you pay.

HOSTING BEHIND THE SCENES

Your company buys a (www) domain name from a Registrar (ex: GoDaddy )

Then you build a website and put the files on a hosting server

A potential customer types a domain name into their web browser (ex: google)

The DNS Server (domain name server) routes your customer to the correct computer server that has your website files on it

The hosting server opens up the folder that has the website files on it and shows your customer your website… all within seconds!
